badminton-like game was known in ancient Greece and Egypt – a game called battledore and shuttlecock – in which two players hit a feathered shuttlecock back and forth with tiny rackets.

Invented in India in a version called poona. In 1873 the duke of Beaufort introduced the sport at his country estate, Badminton, from which the game derives its name.

The wordBadminton” has been associated with the sport since 1874. The game was named for the Badminton House, which was an estate in Gloucestershire, England. “Badminton” comes from the Old English word “Badimyncgtun,” which means “estate of a man called Badu helm.”

KDTTA Indoor Stadium has a Synthetic Flooring with three courts for Badminton which is of international standards.

What are techniques for Badminton

  • Basic Gripping Technique. Learn how to hold your racket using the forehand and backhand grip.

  • Basic Badminton Strokes. Strokes are simply your swing action to hit the shuttle.
