Sport Psychologist session for KDTTA coaches

Acknowledging the need of sport psychologist for development of sports and sports persons, Kachchh District Table Tennis Association(KDTTA) organised a counselling session at KDTTA sport complex, Adipur on 11th February, 2018(Sunday) for KDTTA sports coaches of Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Badminton, Skating and Karate . Full time KDTTA Sports Psychologist Goolrukh Sethna was the main speaker at the event.

Sethna has done her graduation from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda before completing Masters in Sports Psychology from UK. During the seminar Sethna talked about the development of kid,coach-player relationship and the role of coaches.

“This is for the first time I have had session with these coaches.Basic idea was to understand what coaches think of their players and their relationship. It was good informative session as we shared lot of information. I am happy to provide solution to their (coaches) queries. Will be happy to help players and coaches in future, too,” said Sethna, who is now settled in Gandhidham.

Head Tennis coach of KDTTA sports complex Jitendra Parmar, who attended the counselling, termed it very informative. “Having spent 13 years in coaching, I know what it takes to build a champion. However, today I learnt how to handle those kids who are weak, not able to progress in their game as per our expectations. I am convinced with Sethna’s theory and I am going to add to my coaching manual,” said Parmar, who has coached in Mumbai, Baramati, Bhavnagar and Bhuj in past.

“These days, mental fitness has become integral part of sports training. Not only for players, but coaches also need to learn about mental strength and modern day techniques to handle youngsters. Today’s exercise (seminar) was meant for the coaches and I hope it will prove to be fruitful for them. Such seminars will be regular as we wish our players and coaches benefit from it and become best in the business,” said Haresh Sangtani, Hon Secretary of KDTTA.

The counselling session was attended by KDTTA Sports Coaches Jeetendra Parmar (Head Coach Lawn Tennis), Nurshah Pathan (Assistant Coach Lawn Tennis), Anand Shrivastav (Head Coach Badminton) , Karan Kewalramani (Assistant Coach Badminton), Prashant Buch (Table Tennis Coach), Karan Joshi (Skating Coach), Piyush Shrivastav (Karate Coach).
